Use case: Cupcakedozen
800+ SKUs, several EU markets and different EPR rules in each
Cupcakedozen sells packaging for cakes and baked goods to bakeries and consumers in several EU countries, and now bases its EPR declarations on what it actually sold.
As a small business I now feel in control of our EPR reporting.
- Industry
- Packaging for cakes and baked goods, for bakeries and consumers
- Product range
- 800+ SKUs
- Markets
- Sells and reports in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany
The challenge
Cupcakedozen sells to both businesses and consumers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, and reports packaging in all three countries. Each country has its own EPR rules, and the obligations differ depending on whether an order goes to a business (B2B) or a consumer (B2C). To declare correctly, the team had to work out how many kilos of each packaging material they had placed on each market, across a range of more than 800 SKUs. That couldn't be done reliably by hand in spreadsheets.
With more than 800 SKUs, working out how many kilos of which material we placed on each market was practically impossible to do reliably by hand in spreadsheets.
The solution
Cupcakedozen added its packaging data in bulk by uploading it from Excel, and uses B2B tags in Shopify to keep business and consumer orders apart. EPR Insights applies the packaging data to every fulfilled order and turns it into reports per country and material. An overview of failed orders makes it easy to see which orders need attention.
- Bulk upload via Excel
- B2B tags in Shopify
- Reports per country and material
- Overview of failed orders
The result
Cupcakedozen now has one reliable source for its EPR numbers, and its declarations are based on actual sales instead of estimates.
Every fulfilled order is counted automatically, so our declarations are based on what we actually sold instead of on estimates.
About the setup
Setting up a range of more than 800 SKUs took work. Along the way, Cupcakedozen asked our support team detailed questions.
…every detailed question I asked was answered quickly and clearly…
